VICTOR CAIXETA ALSO JOINING DUTCH NATIONAL BALLET
Victor Caixeta, the 22-year-old rising star and soloist of Mariinsky Ballet in St Petersburg, who was born and raised in Brazil, will also join Dutch National Ballet. “The current circumstances have meant I’ve had to make the hard decision of leaving Russia – the place I’ve called home for almost 5 years, as well as the theatre that has given me such an amazing start to my professional career. I look forward to joining Dutch National Ballet and to continue developing as an artist and a person.”
„Victor Caixeta will also be dancing in Raymonda. Victor is a hugely talented and charismatic dancer and we are thrilled to be welcoming him to Dutch National Ballet,“ said Ted Brandsen.

Victor Caixeta was born in Uberlândia, Brazil and trained as a dancer at the Staatliche Ballettschule Berlin, where he graduated in 2017. He joined the Mariinsky Ballet in St. Petersburg that same year and was promoted to the rank of soloist in 2019.
His roles with the Mariinsky Ballet include Goldon Idol in La Bayadère, the Prince in The Nutcracker, Prince Desiré (or Florimund) in The Sleeping Beauty and Romeo in Romeo and Juliet. Besides dancing lead roles in full-length classical ballets, he has also performed solo roles in works by choreographers such as Hans van Manen, Wayne McGregor and Twyla Tharp.
Caixeta has several awards to his name, including the third prize at the thirteenth International Ballet Competition in Moscow (2017), the first prize in the category Classical Dance at the Tanzolymp in Berlin (2017) and the first prize at the European Ballet Grand Prix in Vienna (2017). He was also a finalist at the Youth America Grand Prix in both 2014 and 2015.
