Would you like to choreograph for The Australian Ballet?

Calling All Female Classical Choreographers!

The Australian Ballet and Sydney Opera House have joined forces with Dance Australia to offer a thrilling opportunity to an emerging female choreographer. Together we are seeking to discover and nurture up-and-coming female talent. If you’re a classically trained dancer/choreographer and would like to see your work showcased by The Australian Ballet, this could be you.

The chosen choreographer will receive a residency at the Sydney Opera House and a commission to create a work for The Australian Ballet’s 2020 Bodytorque season.

Last year’s recipient of the Emerging Female Classical Choreographer Award was AMELIA DRUMMOND, who created a work called Eisemkeit which premiered at the Southbank Theatre in Melbourne. You can learn about her experience – from residency to opening night in the video.

Send your entries to: EFCC@danceaustralia.com.au with ‘Female Choreographer Initiative’ as your subject line.
