You can only dance well with your heart

Dusan Dragovic and Valeria Agikyan write Ballroom History

(🇬🇧)

by Ute FISCHBACH-KIRCHGRABER

Dusan Dragovich and Valeria Agikyan are the first ones ever to be world champions in two different organizations, the world Dance Organisation (WDO) and the World Dance Council (WDC). But the two are far more than dancers – they are artists. Dusan relies entirely on the living moment. And in this, he encounters the philosopher Ernst Bloch, who, in his major work “The Principle of Hope,” describes the “darkness of the lived moment,” in which there still lies full potential for development and nothing has yet been decided. This is also where the artist’s creativity lies.

And from this darkness—which is not yet conscious—emerge the spontaneous emotions Dusan and Valeria are speaking of. This is where the freedom comes from, from which Dusan and Valeria tell their story anew and differently each time, with their danceing body language.

This is the fascination that emanates from this exceptional couple. Here, they live life, not just perform. Their intensity is so strong that no one can escape from it.

We met Dusan and Valeria in Munich at the „Lion” where they gave lectures, were judging and performed an amazing Tango-show for everybody to see their extremely refined qualities. A perfect opportunity to talk to them about ballroom dancing.
