Die Vorauswahljury um den k\u00fcnstlerischen Leiter <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Gregor Z\u00f6llig<\/span><\/span>, der zugleich als Ballettdirektor und Chefchoreograf am <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Staatstheater Braunschweig<\/span><\/span> wirkt, hat gemeinsam mit den Choreograf:innen <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Maura Morales<\/span><\/span> und <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Johannes Wieland<\/span><\/span> eine Auswahl von Nachwuchschoreograf:innen aus 17 Nationen getroffen.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"818\" data-end=\"1438\">Das Niveau der Einreichungen sei \u201eerneut au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlich hoch\u201c gewesen, so Z\u00f6llig. Besonders stark vertreten waren China mit \u00fcber 60 Beitr\u00e4gen, Italien mit 47 sowie die USA mit 28 Einsendungen; sechs Beitr\u00e4ge kamen aus Deutschland. In vielen Arbeiten, beobachtet Z\u00f6llig, spiegele sich der gegenw\u00e4rtige Zeitgeist wider \u2013 in \u201eparadoxen, parallelen und komplexen Szenarien\u201c, die sich in Bewegung artikulieren. Auff\u00e4llig sei zudem die h\u00e4ufige Einbindung von Sprache. Formal dominieren Duette (56 Prozent), wohingegen Gruppenarbeiten mit 19 Prozent deutlich seltener vertreten sind.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2691\" data-end=\"2899\">Die nominierten Choreograf:innen pr\u00e4sentieren ihre Arbeiten am 11. und 12. Juni 2026 im <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Theater am Aegi<\/span><\/span>. Im Anschluss bestimmt die Jury die Finalist:innen f\u00fcr den Wettbewerb am 13. Juni.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2901\" data-end=\"3202\">Seit der ersten Ausgabe im Jahr 1987, initiiert von der <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Ballett Gesellschaft Hannover<\/span><\/span>, hat sich der Wettbewerb \u00fcber vier Jahrzehnte hinweg nicht nur als der langlebigste seiner Art etabliert, sondern auch als eine der international profiliertesten Plattformen f\u00fcr zeitgen\u00f6ssische Choreografie.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p data-start=\"3235\" data-end=\"3308\"><strong data-start=\"3235\" data-end=\"3308\">Participants from 17 nations nominated for choreography 40 in Hanover<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3310\" data-end=\"3853\">With nearly 400 applications from 50 countries, the 40th edition of <em data-start=\"3378\" data-end=\"3445\">choreography \u2013 International Competition for Choreography Hanover<\/em> once again underlines its global reach. The preliminary jury, led by artistic director <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Gregor Z\u00f6llig<\/span><\/span>\u2014who also serves as Artistic Director of Dance Theatre and Chief Choreographer at <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Staatstheater Braunschweig<\/span><\/span>\u2014together with choreographers <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Maura Morales<\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Johannes Wieland<\/span><\/span>, has selected emerging choreographers from 17 nations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3855\" data-end=\"4433\">The overall standard of submissions was \u201conce again exceptionally high\u201d, Z\u00f6llig notes. China, with more than 60 entries, Italy (47) and the United States (28) were particularly prominent, while six submissions came from choreographers based in Germany. Many of the works, he observes, reflect the current zeitgeist through \u201cparadoxical, parallel and complex scenarios\u201d articulated in movement. Duets dominate (56 per cent), while group works remain comparatively rare at 19 per cent.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5551\" data-end=\"5750\">The nominated choreographers will present their works on 11 and 12 June 2026 at <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Theater am Aegi<\/span><\/span>, after which the jury will select the finalists for the competition on 13 June.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5752\" data-end=\"6040\">Since its founding in 1987 by the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Ballett Gesellschaft Hannover<\/span><\/span>, the competition has evolved over four decades into not only the longest-running choreography competition of its kind, but also one of the most internationally distinguished platforms for contemporary choreography.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mit nahezu 400 Bewerbungen aus 50 L\u00e4ndern best\u00e4tigt die 40.
