Nur wenige Wochen nach seinem triumphalen Erfolg mit der Urauff\u00fchrung von Kallirhoe<\/em> an der Wiener Staatsoper pr\u00e4sentiert Alexei Ratmansky<\/strong> bereits sein n\u00e4chstes gro\u00dfes Werk. Am 1. November feiert am K\u00f6niglichen D\u00e4nischen Theater in Kopenhagen ein Werk Premiere, das in mehrfacher Hinsicht Geschichte schreibt: The Art of the Fugue<\/em> \u2013 das neue Ballett des weltweit gefeierten ukrainischen Choreografen Alexei Ratmansky. Inspiriert von Johann Sebastian Bachs unvollendetem Sp\u00e4twerk Die Kunst der Fuge<\/em>, \u00fcbersetzt Ratmansky die strenge Architektur der Musik in ein bewegtes System aus Linien, Spiegelungen und Variationen \u2013 ein choreografisches Universum aus Klang, Form und Stille.<\/p>\n

\u201eDas St\u00fcck ist \u00fcberhaupt nicht politisch\u201c, sagt Ratmansky. \u201eAber in meinem Herzen widme ich es der Ukraine.\u201c<\/p>\n

Urspr\u00fcnglich war die Urauff\u00fchrung 2022 in Moskau geplant. Doch nach Russlands Angriff auf die Ukraine kehrte Ratmansky, der in Kyjiw aufwuchs, seinem einstigen Wirkungsort den R\u00fccken. Mit der Royal Danish Ballet Company fand er nun den Ort, an dem das Werk vollendet werden konnte \u2013 ein Akt k\u00fcnstlerischer Integrit\u00e4t und ein Bekenntnis zur Freiheit der Kunst.<\/p>\n

\u201eIch bin zutiefst bewegt, dass Alexei gerade unsere Compagnie als Stimme f\u00fcr dieses Werk gew\u00e4hlt hat\u201c, sagt Ballettdirektorin Amy Watson. \u201eAngesichts der globalen Krisen und der Schwere unserer Zeit ist es umso bedeutender, dass diese Arbeit entsteht und das Publikum erreicht.\u201c<\/p>\n

Ratmansky, einer der pr\u00e4genden Choreografen der Gegenwart, ist bekannt f\u00fcr seine F\u00e4higkeit, die klassische Ballettsprache mit moderner Denkweise zu verbinden. In The Art of the Fugue<\/em> verdichtet er die kontrapunktische Struktur Bachs zu reiner Bewegung \u2013 zu einem abstrakten, fast kosmischen Tanz in f\u00fcnf Akten.<\/p>\n

Just weeks after his triumphant premiere of Kallirhoe<\/em> at the Vienna State Opera, Alexei Ratmansky unveils his next major work.<\/p>\n

On 1 November, the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen will host the premiere of a ballet that makes history on multiple levels: The Art of the Fugue<\/em>, the latest creation by the world-renowned Ukrainian choreographer Alexei Ratmansky. Inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach\u2019s unfinished late masterpiece, Die Kunst der Fuge<\/em>, Ratmansky transforms the strict architecture of the music into a dynamic interplay of lines, reflections and variations \u2013 a choreographic universe of sound, form and silence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis piece is not political at all,\u201d Ratmansky says. \u201cBut in my heart, I dedicate it to Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Originally scheduled to premiere in Moscow in 2022, Ratmansky \u2013 who grew up in Kyiv \u2013 left the city following Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine. With the Royal Danish Ballet Company, he has now found the company that could bring the work to completion \u2013 an act of artistic integrity and a testament to the freedom of art.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am deeply moved that Alexei chose our company as the voice for this work,\u201d says Ballet Director Amy Watson. \u201cGiven the global crises and the weight of our times, it is all the more vital that this work is realised and reaches its audience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ratmansky, one of the most influential choreographers of our time, is renowned for blending classical ballet vocabulary with contemporary thought. In The Art of the Fugue<\/em>, he distils Bach\u2019s contrapuntal structure into pure movement \u2013 an abstract, almost cosmic ballet in five acts.<\/p>\n

The Art of the Fugue<\/em> can be experienced for the very first time on 1 November on the historic stage of the Royal Danish Theatre \u2013 a world premiere that celebrates not only musicality but also the moral depth of art.<\/p>\n
