Former Artistic Director of Rambert,<\/strong> the UK\u2019s leading contemporary dance company,\u00a0Mark Baldwin OBE,<\/a>\u00a0has today become Patron of bbodance,<\/a>\u00a0the new name for the British Ballet Organization.<\/strong> Mr Baldwin joins\u00a0recent Patrons,\u00a0Strictly Come Dancing<\/em> Judge, Craig Revel Horwood<\/a>\u00a0and Artistic Director of Elmhurst Ballet School,\u00a0<\/strong>Robert Parker,<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0promoting bbodance\u2019s journey to achieve excellence in multi-genre dance teaching and engage with its membership.<\/p>\n

“I am very impressed with the energy and mobility of bbodance.<\/strong> It is inspiring and humbling to support the artistic journey of\u00a0an organisation with such a long history and with active members in so many regions. Touring is a fundamental part of my artistic vision,<\/strong> and the reach of bbodance is closely aligned with\u00a0that,” Mr Baldwin stated.<\/p>\n

“I have known Mark for many years and know how passionate he is about contemporary dance.<\/strong> He is undoubtedly a visionary and has dedicated his professional life to upholding and developing choreographic standards. About bbodance<\/h2>\n

Founded in 1930 by\u00a0Edouard Espinosa and Eve Kelland,<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>bbodance\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>is an international dance awarding organisation with a large membership in the UK and Australasia.<\/a> bbodance provides Ofqual-recognised syllabi<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0Classical Ballet,\u00a0Modern, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Tap and, since April 2018,\u00a0Contemporary Dance.<\/a>\u00a0bbodance also provides\u00a0comprehensive dance teacher training<\/a>\u00a0for Levels 4 to 6, as well as a\u00a0Level 3 Extended Diploma<\/a>\u00a0that is an official access path to\u00a0<\/em>London Studio Centre,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>and an annual suite of intensive Continuing Professional Development (CPD)<\/a> and student training<\/a> events.<\/em><\/p>\n

About Mark Baldwin OBE<\/h2>\n

Born in Fiji, <\/em>Mark Baldwin OBE<\/em><\/strong> studied classical and contemporary dance in New Zealand. After dancing with the Royal New Zealand Ballet,<\/a>\u00a0Mr Baldwin joined Ballet Rambert in 1983. Ten years later, Mr Baldwin left to become resident choreographer at Sadler\u2019s Wells and establish his own dance company. In 2002, Mr Baldwin returned to Rambert, Britain\u2019s oldest dance company,<\/a>\u00a0as Artistic Director, a position he held longer than any of his predecessors,<\/a>\u00a0and focused his vision on collaborating with other art forms as well as science. Mr Baldwin was awarded an OBE for his services to dance in the Queen\u2019s Birthday Honours 2015.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
