BRUSSELS INTERNATIONAL BALLET

Brussels International Ballet’s Professional Training Program (PTP)

Brussels International Ballet, based in the heart of Belgium’s vibrant capital, is one of Europe’s leading ballet schools. Through world-class training and exceptional performance opportunities, our students receive a premier education that blends artistic excellence with academic rigour.

Professional classical ballet training for students aged 15-17 and 18-21 who aspire to achieve the highest standards of professional classical ballet education in pursuit of a professional career.

Why is the Professional Training Program right for you?
The Professional Training Program – based on the highly effective Vaganova method – is designed to develop not only the technical skills, but physical conditioning and the artistic aspect of classical ballet, to enable students to thrive in their discipline. By building strength and endurance for each student, it aims to enhance the technical skills needed for the practice and strengthen the physical capabilities that are essential for achieving high performance levels and sustaining intense efforts during rehearsals or competitions.

This intensive program is structured as a progressive, two / three-year cycle with the possibility of extension based on the student’s age upon entry. Each year of the program builds on the previous year, emphasizing increasingly advanced training to thoroughly prepare students for a professional career in Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance. While some students feel that the two-year intensive program sufficiently prepares them for auditions with professional companies, based on the time they spend with us, many choose to extend their studies and complete the three-year cycle. This year allows them to further refine and polish their techniques while gaining the maximum artistic experience possible before transitioning into the demanding environment of professional ballet companies.

The first year is mandatory for all students and serves as an “Intensive Preparatory Phase.” This foundational year is focused on building core technical skills, strength, and discipline, ensuring that students have a solid base in Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance.

The second year is dedicated to the “Improvement Training” module. In this phase, students begin to refine their techniques and develop the specific skills necessary for professional auditions. This year is particularly focused on preparing students for the possibility of joining a ballet company, emphasizing versatility, artistry, and technical mastery. Additionally, selected students will have the opportunity to prepare for and take part in international ballet competitions, ensuring they are technically and artistically ready to audition for ballet companies.

The third year, tailored to the student’s age and progress, focuses on “Advanced Training” and is dedicated to equipping students for direct entry into ballet companies. Training at this level is highly specialized and rigorous, involving extensive work on performance techniques, stage presence, and skills tailored to specific companies. It includes intensive preparation for high-level international competitions, aiming to ensure students are thoroughly prepared to join ballet companies and smoothly transition into the professional ballet world.

Under the artistic direction and personalized coaching of Anderson Santana, along with the dedicated support of his skilled faculty, students receive tailored support for developing these essential skills, enabling them to explore, refine, and reach their highest individual potential, ensuring they are fully prepared for the demands of a professional ballet career.

Auditions are open all year round.
