Black Sabbath – The Ballet returns

When Black Sabbath – The Ballet first premiered in 2023 and sold out weeks before opening night, Artistic Director Carlos Acosta knew he had something special on his hands. Taking one of Birmingham’s biggest exports and creating a ballet to their music is a bold move and one that is paying dividends. Now it returns just two years later and, once again, the tickets for this short run of performances at Sadler’s Wells are all long gone.

The result is a review-proof show, as much of the audience are heavy metal lovers who’ve never seen a ballet before. They can enjoy the music of the band and be dazzled by the dancers rocking out and blasting through some elegantly choreographed showpieces.

Like classical ballets, Black Sabbath features three clearly defined acts.
